Ruts

All of us can get stuck in a rut. We feel defeated, worried, and overwhelmed at everything. There is no forward momentum and life feels full of excuses.

Being in a rut is a breeding ground for entropy. And that’s when you start to feel stuck indefinitely. Pulling yourself out of a rut requires nurturing, love, and feelings of joy.

You can’t pull yourself out of a rut when you’re stuck in your own head.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to experience more joy in any environment and win the day.

Show Highlights Include:

  • Using NPR’s Pandemic Research to find joy and inspiration (when you’ve got yourself stuck in a rut). ([1:36])
  • Apostle Paul’s advice for calling on your most powerful emotions to create the future you want. ([3:42])
  • The ‘Why’ Theory for replacing your most negative feelings with drive and purpose.  ([7:30]
  • How to create opportunity anywhere in life using a wizard, chicken sandwich, and mouse.  ([8:43])
  • How to unleash your imagination and win the day using Martin Luther King Jr’s measurement of time.  ([10:20])

Future

While February is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of Black History, it is also a time to speak on the future. America feels more divided than ever these days. But where there is hope, there is faith.

Hope brings together battered societies for a better tomorrow. It is the peace and unity when everything seems divided. Hope is more than a belief, it is a way of life.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to honor the past and build a better future through the power of hope.

Show Highlights Include:

  • How to unlock MLK’s powerhouse of hope for unlimited potential in your future. ([1:16])
  • A homicide investigator’s advice on living with peace and unity (no matter what comes your way). ([4:17])
  • Using the ‘Hope’ lens to bring divisive societies together for a better tomorrow.  ([6:27]
  • How to lead your life with freedom and hope (while inspiring others to do the same).  ([8:50])

Focus

Focusing often holds a negative connotation. Most people feel that they have to force themselves to focus. And when you draw all your attention on one thing, it can feel like a burden.

You struggle with the pressure of accomplishment. And everything seems to be on the line for this one thing. How do people enjoy the process when they have to focus?

Focusing is a required part of your journey (but shouldn’t ruin the moment). When you use your focus as a strength, there is more enjoyment and fulfillment in reaching your goals. And when you dedicate yourself to the process, winning is not the only accomplishment.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to focus with more intention and enjoyment (instead of stress).

Show Highlights Include:

  • How to transform a ‘Forced Focus’ mindset into embracing your goals. ([2:22])
  • The Vince Lombardi way to relentlessly pursue perfection and enjoy the process. ([4:35])
  • A figure skater’s theory on establishing a winning mindset (with the most fulfillment).  ([5:23]
  • How to strengthen your focus and become more present through the Mamba Mentality.  ([7:42])
  • How to stop burdening yourself with accomplishment and appreciate the journey.  ([10:03])

Listening

When you think about good communicators, you might think about charismatic salespeople, eloquent writers or creative artists.

If you think that way, it’s hard to think you could become great at communication–you can’t copy a skill someone built over decades, right?

But the most important listening skill is available to you right now. It’s something you can do every second of every conversation.

If you listen well, you pay more attention to the people around you and treat them with more kindness, respect and awareness.

And when you treat people well, your relationships improve. You could even advance your career because you understand your colleagues more.

Want to find out how listening can transform your life? Listen now!

Show highlights include:

  • Why one of the world’s foremost business experts considers listening the most important communication skill. ([1:50])
  • How technology is sabotaging your ability to pay attention, listen and concentrate (and how to reverse its harmful impact) ([2:55])
  • The “Talking is King” mistake that makes you talk too much and listen too little. ([5:22])
  • The toxic communication habit that makes us pay less attention to others (even if you’re listening to every word) ([7:37])
