Encore: Storms

Nobody can survive their entire life without being leveled by a few personal storms. Whether they be financial, spiritual, physical, or with your relationships.

Most people shy away from storms—my old self included, when my first wife passed. I weaponized blame, and used it to cope, not realizing it snatched the benefits of the storm from right under me.

But this storm caused me to have an epiphany:

Just as nature needs natural storms to cleanse and blow out dead debris for new life, humans need personal storms to make us stronger, more resilient, and redefine our life’s purpose.

In this episode, you’ll discover why every storm has a silver lining—no matter how hopeless it seems at the moment. Plus, I’ll give you a few simple techniques to overcome storms easier.

Listen now.

Show Highlights Include:

  • How scripture can help you survive the darkest storms of your life (even if you’re not religious) ([1:18])
  • Why writing down your most humiliating failures helps you conquer your next one with ease ([7:56])
  • The “Sanctuary Moment” secret for transforming gut-wrenching misery into unprecedented trump ([8:33])
  • How to create hope out of thin air—even in the darkest times of your life—by making one simple choice ([12:25])
  • 3 questions to ask yourself in the midst of a storm to come out of it a stronger person ([13:41])

Encore: Loyalty

Being loyal has a bad rep these days. Between bad relationships and bosses, people are more loyal to themselves. And it has led people into having a “me” mindset instead of a “we” mindset.

But being loyal is still valuable to your life. It shows you commit to standing with someone (or something), no matter what. Loyalty flourishes trust in your relationships and commands respect.

In this episode, you’ll discover why loyalty makes you a more impactful and influential person today.

Show Highlights Include:

  • Why having ‘San Francisco Giants’ loyalty brings more meaning and purpose into the world today. ([0:42])
  • Why employees feel disconnected from their workplace (and how to find a secure, authentic job today).  ([3:10])
  • Why being a loyal employee gives you more respect, trust, and influence today. ([8:03])
  • How to command the highest degree of leadership and make an impact every day. ([9:12])

Encore: Story

Most people who try to influence others commit a fatal mistake:

They only rely on information. But if information could impact people, everyone would be skinny, rich, and happy. That’s because stats, figures, and data only impact two areas of your brain.

The key to impacting every part of your listeners’ brains?

Storytelling.

Not only will telling better stories make you more influential and persuasive, but it will help you impact more lives than you can imagine. That’s because it’s the foundation for all human connection.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to harness the power of storytelling to make your dreams (and everyone’s listening) come true.

Listen now.

Show highlights include:

  • How watching movies nominated for Academy Awards brings you closer to your loved ones ([0:35])
  • Why you learn new concepts more thoroughly when they’re told to you through a story ([2:48])
  • How storytelling unlocks magic which transports your listeners to the setting of your story in crystal clear detail in an instant ([4:22])
  • The scientific reason why storytelling is more persuasive and life-changing than even the best data ([5:58])
  • 3 simple elements to beef up your stories so your listeners hang on every word and implement your advice ([10:43])

Human beings are designed for suffering.

That’s the bad news.

And do you know what else we’re designed for? We’re designed to recover from traumatic, painful, and heartbreaking experiences.

We let despair get in the way of grief — which prolongs our suffering and makes healing impossible.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to grieve properly, so you can recover from any gut-wrenching situation that comes your way.

Listen now and discover why grief is a gift.

Hope brings together battered societies for a better tomorrow. It is the peace and unity when everything seems divided. Hope is more than a belief, it is a way of life.

Encore: Refuge

With everything happening in the world, everyone needs a space they can feel safe in.

Turning on the TV makes you full of anxious and fear. You want to help others but feel without hope.

Living in bad news for too long breaks the most uplifting spirits. It traumatizes the mind and turns everything else toxic (even if you don’t realize it).

Having a safe space is about more than stepping out of the world for a moment. It makes you happier, feel more at peace, and ready to take on the rest of the day.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to tune out the notifications and news for a space that revitalizes your soul for real impact in the world.

Show Highlights Include:

  • How to avoid mental pollution from the everyday news cycle and find a safe space for your spirit. ([0:52])
  • The ‘Emergency Room’ perspective on seeking relief (when there is none left in the world). ([4:16])
  • Using the Psychology Today meaning of ‘refuge’ to step out of the world and find your peace. ([7:17])
  • The soul-fulfilling things you can do to tune out the noise and find peace in the world. ([8:51])
  • The Philippians Way to give your mind a break and be completely at one with yourself. ([11:06])

Encore: Letters

Technology killed handwritten letters like TV killed the radio star. This is unfortunate because handwritten letters convey what technology cannot.

In particular, letters show gratitude, love, personality, and presence which technology will never be able to match. Not to mention, letters become cherished treasures to whomever you send them to.

In this episode, you’ll discover why reviving the lost-art of letter writing will help you feel more joy, gratitude, and love than anything else you do.

Listen now.

Show highlights include:

  • This forgotten and archaic childhood activity can give you an endless sense of nostalgic joy today ([0:31])
  • How to show someone you love that you care about them in 10 minutes or less ([5:38])
  • Why handwriting a personal note to your family, friends, and clients is the best way to spend your time ([6:04])
  • How rediscovering the lost-art of letting writing gives your loved ones a precious treasure they’ll cherish for as long as they live ([12:01])

Encore: Teachable

Having a teachable spirit is about the hunger for knowledge. You care more about learning something than what it offers you.

And the more you learn, the more you find value in everyday experiences. Your curiosity leads to a better life.

If you stop learning, you stop growing. You find your life is lacking in discovery and new ideas. Knowledge is always the cure.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to have a teachable spirit for unlimited growth in everything you do.

Show Highlights Include:

  • Why intelligence isn’t something you’re born with (and how to make the learning process easier). ([0:58])

Encore: Details

Some say that paying attention to small things make big things happen. And while you may not be able to get everything perfect, paying attention to the details is where you make something great.

Details are more important than time. And when you focus on one spot at a time, you learn more in your tasks (and act greater). Details make perfection and it’s worth waiting to get something right.

In this episode, you’ll learn why attention to details makes all the difference in your success.

Show Highlights Include:

  • Why a painter, pastor, and football coach all focus on the details to accomplish great things. ([1:00])

  • How to keep every detail in sync and win championships like Vince Lombardi and John Madden. ([6:52])
  • The Mindcraft Mentality for remaining faithful to details (and wherever they may lead). ([11:55])
